today's schedule: taking my exchange student to his first factory outlet mall experience. my mother and sister came in the late morning and we drove down to wrentham to do some shopping. riding on the turnpike southwards we could already see the traffic being tied up for miles as people headed into boston to catch the game at fenway park. whenever i got the chance, i'd fish the tiny shortwave transistor radio out of my bag and listen to the red sox game. i couldn't quite catch the score, but from the tone of the announcers, i knew things weren't very good for the home team. as for the shopping, i ended up buying two pairs of adidas, and we had a very late lunch at friendly's. there was a 20 minute wait before we were seated, and we sat right across from the crowd of hungry people waiting for tables, so that made for a nice backdrop while i was gnawing on my reuben sandwich. i ended up eating so much i nearly burst. jawei told us the reason why he eats everything on his plate is because his parents would beat him as a child if he didn't finish his food. we could've easily stayed in wrentham to do more bargain hunting, but my sister had to get back into town by 6pm for work so we left immediately after lunch. we returned to belmont, where after a few hours of rest, it was time to eat again, chinese dumplings for dinner (jawei sat this one out, watching television instead). later my father gave us a ride back to cambridge (suhan tagged along to retrieve the pint of ben & jerry ice cream he left here from yesterday).
