i walked to the cafe to get a ride back to belmont to pick up the motorcycle from the garage. besides walking and public transportation, the bike is my only other way of getting around (at least during the summer) since i don't own a car.

along the way, i bumped into bruce (from across the street), at the same time, i ran into lucy and mervin (friends of laurie, who just happened to be back in town for the weekend). bruce showed me the new cellphone he'd purchased, one of the last people i know who haven't gone wireless (until now).

when i finally got the bike, i didn't have the latest registration and the vehicle needed to be inspected, but i took it out anyway. the short ride from belmont to cambridge felt like home, the hot and humid weather perfect for riding. i couldn't wait to take it out on longer trips.

when evening rolled along (even though there was still plenty of daylight), i went out to get some groceries, and once again, i was horrified by how expensive everything is compared to southeast asia ($6 for a box of donuts? ugh). i left my shaw's card at home but the lady at the register let me use her card for the $20 worth of food i was purchasing. i met my next door neighbor renee, who welcomed me back from my trip.

for dinner i had some french bread pizza, then spent the rest of the night watching episodes of SVU.
