watching mike pack up his stuff and getting ready to leave tomorrow, i feel sort of sad. when he first moved in at the end of last summer, i had big plans for us. we'd hang out all the time, make fun of people on television, have barbecues year round, hold crazy parties, i'd introduce him to my friends, he'd introduce me to his friends, it would've been a golden age of roommateship. little did i know he'd have other plans, and spent almost all of his time at his girlfriend's place, and only come back when he had to study for a test or do his laundry. and perhaps on paper that would've seemed like the ideal arrangement, but for some reason it drove me nuts. but now that's all in the past. by this time tomorrow, he'll be in new york city attending his bar exam class, and i will once again be living the solo life. a year of roommates. i can reclaim the spare bedroom again. i remember it used to be my tv room when i was sick of watching tv in the living room, and sometimes when i got bored of sleeping in my regular bedroom, i'd take a turn sleeping in the spare bedroom.

in other news, i really need to get some sleep. in total, i probably only got 14 hours of sleep this weekend. when i went to work today, i wasn't tired during the first half, but starting the second half, after i had lunch (pan fried beef noodles), it was a struggle keeping awake, especially during a marathon 3+ hour project meeting to discuss the next version of the company demo cd-rom. i drifted in and out of consciousness, my head facing downward to hide the fact that my eyes were half-closed. at one point i went to the bathroom to try and snap myself awake, the idea of maybe taking a 10 minute nap on the toilet not as far-fetched as i originally imagined.

all i wanted to do when i got home was to go to bed, but i'm a million weblog entries behind, so i forced myself to stay awake and to plug in the holes. i made some headway, but the longer you wait, the harder it is to put it down on paper. i cooked up some chicken cutlets that'd been marinating in mongolian barbecue sauce all weekend long, and made some quick and dirty fried rice with bits of hot dog and an egg thrown in there for good measure.
