after buying a subway pass for the month of may at south station, i caught the train home. when i got to porter square it suddenly started raining heavily, lightning flashing and cracking in the distance. the thunderstorm made me happy for some reason (maybe the idea of people getting caught in the rain gave me a sick sadistic thrill), and i walked back home whistling to the music coming from my mp3 player.
first thing i did when i got back was to clean the house, vaccuming the bathroom, kitchen, and living room before julie arrived for our hebdomadary tuesday night dinner. although it's her turn to cook, because she now has rowing classes on tuesdays, she didn't have time to prepare anything for tonight, so i told her about the lasagna i made yesterday and we settled for that plus some leftovers she was going to bring. julie arrived soaking wet on my doorstep, having been caught in the rain on the river then stepping into that large puddle on my street. she brought over some sour creme chicken with asparagus and some orange givrées she had made yesterday, inspired by the givrée she had last friday. we threw the leftover lasagna into the oven and waited for it to heat up. when that was ready, we microwaved the chicken and the rice. i tried to get julie to eat a whole square of lasagna but she only wanted a little slice. her chicken leftover from last night was very good, but the asparagus would make my pee smell later in the evening. i had trouble finishing my brick of lasagna, today was a serious carbohydrate binge. later, during SUV, julie brought out the givrées. the inside tasted more like italian ice than orange sherbet, but it had a real rich citrus flavor since julie mixed some zest into the blend.
after complaining about how she had to get up early tomorrow to work, julie left after the daily show. i brought out the trash, did the dishes, and put another slice of lasagna into a tupperware container for tomorrow's lunch.
