i thought about making some breakfast, but after browsing through a few recipe books, i gave up and went with the canned corn chowder option and a glass of banana milk. i couldn't really taste it, my taste buds unable to distinguish between flavors. after breakfast i wanted to go back to sleep, but the weather was so nice, it compelled me to go outside, sickness and all. from my window i saw two pale birds in the distance. they were big enough that i was able to see then by eye, but i grabbed the monocular for a closer look: two completely yellow birds. i'm going to say they were two off-season tanagers, since they were too large to be any kind of warblers. the sun disappeared and it looked like it'd rain, so i decided to stay home instead.
i feel asleep in the living room on the couch. alex wong dropped by briefly around 4pm to use my basement as free storage for some of his stuff when he moves to japan. around 5pm my mother came over, bringing with her dinner. she gave me some chinese medicine to drink, supposedly something to fight the virus. it tasted bitter but i'd try anything if it'd cure me. we watched a few hours of the food network before eating ourselves (mantou, some side dishes, i was careful with my chopsticks so as to not to get my mother sick as well). it hurt when i swallowed and like before, i couldn't really taste the food. i felt lethargic, had a slight headache, my body was still aching and cold. after i had something warm to eat though, i started feeling better. by that point i had a slight cleansing cough. we watched some law & order: svu before she went home.
a hot shower, some television, then it's straight to bed.
