some people might feel the pressure to cram their weekends to full capacity with activities and social events, but i'm content to do nothing, to make my own fun in the privacy of my own fortress of solitude. a chicken pot pie from the oven for dinner followed by hours and hours of television. i reread nathaniel hawthorne's "young goodman brown" (just for kicks) and looked up some animal trivia (did you know that a tiger has striped skin as well as fur?). my father called me to report with much excitement that he was able to successfully burn using idvd. it was an hour movie that took 2 hours to convert. meanwhile, 250 miles away in new york city, mandy was doing her taxes (girl really knows how to have fun on a friday night!). she told me (via ichat) that she quit her job but found another one, and i just had to call her up and hear this story for myself.
the weather today was classic new england. when i left my house this morning it was almost 50 degrees with a slight overcast. when i got to the office though, it started to rain, with occasional brief periods of sunshine. the temperature then dropped to near freezing as it started to snow, first a flurry, then bigger and bigger flakes (not enough to stick though), before it just suddenly stopped.
i had smelly tofu for lunch and when i went to go pick it up, i was kind of disappointed that the woman who works there didn't seem to recognize me even though i've been getting smelly tofu enough times to be a regular customer. maybe she knows who i am but doesn't want to give me any special treatment for fear of hurting the feelings of her other patrons. i can respect that.
