while it was near freezing temperature outside last night, inside my house it was nearly 70 degrees, despite the fact that i had the heat turned off for the past two days due to the abnormally warm weather we've been having here in greater boston. overnight however the temperature in my house dropped, and when i woke up this morning (9am), i thought it was cold enough to see my breath, with the thermostat reading 60 degrees. i used the bathroom, got dressed, and went next door to doug's condo to meet up with bruce for my first day of demolition clean-up work.

after doug explained to us what needed to be done, bruce and i got to work. we had on masks (the ones professional use, with the drums on the sides, good practice for when we need to wear gas masks for future terrorist attacks) and work gloves as we basically cleaned up the 2nd and 1st floor of the condo, pulling out any loose insulation, pick up leftover debris, and a lot of sweeping up of dust. it didn't seem like too much work at first but the more we cleaned, the more there was to clean. doug had left an air circulating machine on before he left for work, to minimize the dusting, but we still kicked up a lot of dust. we were finally done by 1pm, but not before we got a chance to see doug's place on the 3rd floor, a very nice space with an awesome sunny violet bathroom featuring a skylight and a waterjet bathtub. bruce and i left, to return tomorrow morning for some serious shopvac action.

i came home and quickly took a shower, my starchy hair sticking straight up from all the construction dust. later, i washed my painting clothes, which haven't been cleaned since i was over at jeff's place helping him paint. i had to presoak a pair of jeans in the sink, and the water was black when i finally took them out. i had soup from a can for lunch. it was bright and sunny outside but too cold to do anything outdoorsy. it'd be a nice day to run, but i already ran yesterday, and i really wanted to go biking, but it was just too windy and cold. so i kind of bummed around until 5pm, where i watched some spongebob, then promptly fell asleep on the couch with the early evening sun shining into the living room.

i woke up at 8pm, turned down the blinds, and made some french bread pizza. the day i acquired french bread pizza making technology from renata was a good day! dare i say it, but french bread pizza now seems to be my default food of choice. it's not as easy to make as, say, soup from a can, or instant ramen, but it has just enough chopping to keep the budding cook in me happy (pepperoni, olives, peppers) yet at the same time quick and easy enough that even someone as lazy as me would find it relatively effortless to make. next time i'm going to sprinkle some cumin seeds for more flavor. later, i had a bowl of strawberries.
