the first official day of my year end vacation, i woke up at noon, having not gone to sleep at an obscene hour last night (which is what i'd normally do, otherwise i'd have slept until 2pm). i watched the patriots beat the dolphins on tv, their chances of getting into the playoffs getting better and better. i did some laundry. i cleaned up my room a little bit. i played a few hours of diablo 2. my exchanged item from rei outlet came back. a lazy day, a day of nothingness. originally i had hoped to go out and finish the rest of my christmas shopping, but since i'd probably be out tomorrow anyway (for dim sum with laurie, what else?), i was able to rationalize my shopping laziness and ended up not going out at all today.

exactly two weeks ago i filled my backyard feeders. when i went out today i saw that both were nearly empty. i figure that's about right, that every two weeks i have to replenish the content of the feeders. i only refilled the globe feeder though - it's easily removable from a hanging hook. the tube feeder however is a different story, it's attached to its post by a coil of wires that very difficult to unwrap, especially with bare fingers on a freezing day. i'll refill it tomorrow if i have time. i really like the feeders right after a snowstorm, where they then really stand out and it's easier to see the birds, whether they be perched on the feeders or hiding in the trees waiting for their turn to feed.
