got up this morning to ride to work. routine temperature check showed that it was a cool 54 degrees fahrenheit outside. a wee bit chilly, but nothing a few layers of clothing can't solve. i got dressed, rolled the motorcycle out of the garage, and off to work i went, first gear slowly working it's way to fifth. after about a mile of riding i was freezing though. cruising 30 mph in residential streets and 55 mph on memorial drive, that kind of wind chill factor seemed like i was riding in subzero temperature. everytime i came to a stop, i was shivering at the lights. definitely no fun to ride in the cold!
after work it suddenly started raining. a quick check of weather.com revealed that the slight drizzle was only a passing system and would clear out after a little bit. i decided to wait it out (instead of taking the t), attempted the boston globe crossword puzzle (online version) with amanda in the meantime, and then when the rain finally stopped and the roads were dry enough, i had a pleasant ride home. the temperature was in the 70's. much better. i'm glad i didn't have to experience riding in the rain.
