a violent thunderstorm rages outside and what do i do? i grab the umbrella and the camera and head out into the backyard or course! rain photography is my new favorite thing to do. raindrops on flowers just increase the dramatic impact of the photos. take roses for example. by themselves, they symbolize romance and love. add a touch of raindrops, and they seem sad, like maybe a broken heart (oh my god, did i just get all sappy there for second? oh dang). anyway, the delphiniums have finally bloomed. they need to be staked though, the stems are growing too long and making the plants droop. the backyard bamboos have really really taken off. in the span of a few weeks, they've grown from little shoots a few inches tall to stalks measuring 7-8 feet in height and still growing. bamboos scare me. the bad thing is we never did any underground treatment to these bamboos, so i'm really afraid they're going to invade our neighbor's backyard. at the rate they're growing, if they're not kept in check, they can totally invade an area in a matter of weeks!
