my aunt and matthew came around noontime to drop off their old 32" sony HDTV. we were thinking about putting it on top of the 3 tier shelf, but the tv looks to be too heavy, and knowing what we know about the instability of that shelf, it's way too dangerous. we'll have to put that HDTV somewhere else.
it turned out to be a busy day today, if the number of tea eggs we sold was any indication. i put in a fresh batch of 30 this morning and by the afternoon we were down to about 10. i ended up making a new batch, otherwise there won't be enough next week. maybe because eggs are still so expensive these days, but tea eggs are hot items, there are people who come just to buy them.
because it was so busy, the day went by pretty fast. my father and i left the cafe around 4:15pm. there wasn't much rain throughout the day, though the weather felt damp and overcast. i thought i could maybe get in an hour of gardening in belmont, but a little shower began to fall and it felt too raw to be outside.
i snacked for about an hour before it was dinnertime, a zucchini stirfry, a shaved steak stirfry. my father gave me a ride back to cambridge, after we formulated a plan for a massive supply run tomorrow morning despite the forecast of rain. that'd leave monday free for gardening, before my parents leave on wednesday.
when i got home, i felt one of the front steps give way. i moved it with my hand and sure enough it was loose. that handyman we hired last year to do fixes around the house? totally inept. everything we hired him to fix he sort of made worse. repairing a loose step isn't that difficult, but i won't have time within the next 2 weeks since i have to work at the cafe everyday, and the upstairs renters are moving in next weekend. this is going to be a future project.
i thought the heat-knicks game was tonight, turns out it's tomorrow. only NBA game on tonight was the suns-nuggets game. it wasn't a game i was too interested in but i had it in the background while i surfed the web on my laptop. denver dominated phoenix, beating them 125-107. the suns are actually 2-2 against the nuggets this season, but they've won their two most recent regular season games after kevin durant joined the team.
i decided to finally wash my sheets after i noticed a few weeks ago blood stains from a scratch. not only were they on the bedsheet, but the duvet cover as well. i tossed them into the bathtub to presoak and treat the stains. i read that hydrogen peroxide really gets out blood stains. maybe fresh stains, but not so much on old stains. when i poured the hydrogen peroxide onto the stains, it'd fizzle like it was doing something, but the stains still remained. i tried washing in cold water then scrubbing, then seemed to dilute the stains but not get rid of it completely. i sprayed it with stain remover, scrubbed it after a few minutes, stain still remained. i finally just gave up, figured worst case scenario i'd just buy some new sheets, and tossed the dirty linen into the washer along with some other clothes. besides detergent, i also added a scoop of oxi-clean powder, hoping it might work some miracle.
when the load was done, i didn't even bother inspecting it before tossing everything into the dryer. only when the load was dried did i finally check my bedsheet and duvet cover. like magic, the blood stains were completely gone. was it the hydrogen peroxide? the stain remover? the oxi-clean? not sure, but i'm just happy to have clean stain-free sheets again.
i ended up doing a second load of laundry, and wasn't finished with all my loads until 12:30am.
