after a visit to market basket in the early afternoon, i went to the cafe to help my parents rewrite the menu boards. ever since they opened up on tuesday (6th), they didn't have any menus so customers would come to the store and have no idea what to order. this was probably one of the most important things but waiting for my sister to do it meant waiting for who knows how long; besides, i think her writing is terrible, so i knew it was up to me.

i had my sister send me the photos of the old menus she photographed before erasing them. she tried staining the wooden frames of these dry-erase boards but she didn't realize the frames were already sealed in some polyurethane coating so the stain didn't take and left the board sticky. my father ended up washing off the stain with gasoline and dried them out yesterday.

there was so much text on the menus, it was hard to gauge how big to make the writing so i could fit everything perfectly. i also ran into the problem of the leaning margin. in the end i think i did an okay job, at least now there was a menu that customers can see and order from. any aesthetic improvements can be made at a future time.

in the late afternoon i snacked on some bread and cheese. it was filling enough that i wasn't particularly hungry came dinner time. i heated up the last of the frozen vegetable dinners from the freezer and called it a night.
