i woke up expecting to see a lot of snow but there was hardly any, or least not as much as i thought. my mother called me to let me know not to bother coming down to the cafe to help shovel the sidewalk because my father already took care of it. maybe i still might be needed if we suddenly got a lot of snow later in the day, but for the time being my services weren't required.

i walked down to harvard square to copy an updated outlook express database from michael's laptop. the snow was still falling, in big light clumps that floated in the air like ash. the landscape made for great photos and i brought all my photo equipment (canon dSLR and lumix ZS40) to take some snow photos, but my plans changed when my father called me. earlier he took my grand uncle to the somerville clinic to get a physical. unfortunately when they were about to leave, he discovered the car battery was dead. he tried to get in touch with my sister but she was seeing the doctor herself. i'd have to bike down to belmont in the snow, then drive back to somerville with the other car to jump start his vehicle. all that would take me at least 30 minutes. my father said he'd take my grand uncle home by taxi and figure something out later. i located the pst files, but unfortunately the two usb thumb drives i had with me both wouldn't work on that laptop, so i promised to come back tomorrow. i called my father afterwards for a status update. he ended up calling AAA, who went someone out to jump the car. walking back, the snow had mostly stopped and much of it was quickly melting. in the end i didn't take any photos.

the snow had melted enough by then that i could've biked to belmont, but i got a ride instead when my parents got off of from work. i spent the afternoon checking my taxes one last time and printing out my forms. i'm not paying any taxes this year, but i'm still filing. i e-filed my federal and will send in my state by mail. i also printed out tax returns for my 2nd aunt and my sister's godmother.

for dinner we had baked unagi eel with rice and a plate of spicy stir-fried cabbage. since i was getting a ride home, it gave me a chance to bring back all the presents i bought at wrentham outlet last saturday.
