all day all night the wire season 1 HD-remastered marathon on HBO beginning at noon. i left the house for half an hour to get some snacks between episodes 2 and 3. subsequent seasons will be broadcasted the next few days, a season a day. the remastering looks amazing, so clear and the colors just pop. i thought they were just going to crop from the "original" 4:3 aspect ratio, but apparently they shot on film so this new version has additional footage. even though they filmed in 4:3 aspect ratio, it was on 35mm so there was still additional new footage they could extract from the original stock.
