today the whole family took the dog to "winchester fells" - which is what my sister likes to call western middlesex fells. temperature was in the 40's, a sunny but windy day. since it was the observed new year's holiday (with new year's being on a weekend this year) there was a lot of cars parked outside the fells. fortunately the reservation is large enough that most of the time we were just by ourselves. unlike last time, i printed out some trail maps and both my father and i had GPSs so we wouldn't risk getting lost.

from where we parked on hillcrest parkway we crossed the land bridge island bisecting middle and south reservoirs, then walked clockwise around south reservoir back to where we arrived. hailey spearheaded our expedition, every so often looking back to make sure everyone was following her, or sometimes investigating when she looses sight of one of us.

i didn't take a lot of photos because there wasn't that much to see. i think it'd be interesting to come after a light snowstorm, but otherwise it won't be until spring before the fells comes alive again.

coming back, we stopped by the burlington michael's where my mother bought about a dozen cozy wool yarn on sale (50% off). later we went to the burlington bed bath & beyond to buy some keurig k-cups with some coupons before finally coming home.
