my sister is fat. if you ever see her eat, it's not surprising. she didn't used to be fat, but has put on some weight over the past few years. it's gotten bad enough that she can't wear her old clothes anymore. my mother, encouraged by her own recent weight loss, brought up the subject that maybe my sister should consider going on a diet. my sister of course didn't take the kind suggestion very well, as any mention of her weight gain is a strictly taboo subject. "don't talk about it anymore," she threatened, "or i'm going to throw something." she disappeared to her room then came out a short while later, packing up some things and taking the dog with her to a friend's house. this is how my sister deals with problems: threaten violence, ignore the situation, then finally running away.

so i didn't see my sister or the dog the rest of the day.

with the patriots game not until later tonight, there wasn't much to do this sunday afternoon. it was another 60°+ day (but felt warmer with very little wind) and i wiped down my motorcycle a little bit (i might wash it for real tomorrow, another warm day). later i fell asleep for more than an hour (originally i was just going to close my eyes and rest) before my father came back home.

sunday night game between the patriots and the jets made me nervous: new york was on a 3 game winning streak, while new england was suffering a 2 game losing streak. the game started sloppily, with frequent player injuries and penalties on both sides. it was a bad game to watch with marco because it revealed how slow and complicated american football can be. it was low-scoring too, and for a while i thought the game would be decided on who had the most field goals since nobody seemed to be able to get a touchdown. but in the end the patriots won; funny what a few touchdowns and interceptions can do to a team.
