i ended the last work day of the week with a few lingering code issues that will have to wait until next week to be resolved. another grey day, although punctuated by brief periods where it wasn't raining and at one point the sun even came out. the weather was unpredictable enough that i didn't bother risking going out and stayed inside the whole day. whenever i needed a break, i messed around with the bicycle. john got in touch with me earlier, said he'll leave his bike at home when he visits boston tomorrow, so i had an added incentive to get the trek 800 ready. pau came home in the afternoon, went to retrieve his rental car, then left for the north shore where he'll be all weekend. he said john could crash in the guest bedroom, so i took the opportunity to launder the bedsheets.

by early evening i finally had the bicycle completely assembled: old brake pads reattached, and all the replacement cables (brakes and gears) threaded, tightened, and adjusted. the more i work on the bike, the more things i find wrong with it. i don't want it to become an endless series of fixes and by the time i'm done, i'll have spent enough to simply buy a brand new bike. at this point it should be perfectly rideable, which is all i ask. i'm curious to see how it performs tomorrow. of course there's also the magna bike in the basement, and pau said we could also use his trek 850 as well.

i had some instant paomo for dinner. i worked a little bit more afterwards, then watched the bulls-celtics game. it's unusual not having a roommate around, but it's something i can quickly get used to. later i'll take a bath before going to bed. another busy weekend!
