i had a late lunch today with mia, who drove all the way from central mass (we were originally supposed to meet up last night but she cancelled after it started to snow). we tried for thai, but both places in porter square were closed. in fact, most of the restaurants down the length of mass ave were either closed or opened only for dinner. we ended up getting something to eat at the porter exchange food court, where a few of the stalls were still open, along with one restaurant.

besides that, new year's day was uneventful. i caught the opening ceremony of the bruins hockey game on tv, televised from fenway park. a sport mashup? i guess it works for some many other things (videos, music, even fruit juices), why not? they actually had a B2 flyover. i was so excited i went to my window to see if i could either see or hear it buzzing by cambridge, but since it's a stealth bomber, even if it did fly overhead, it'd be silent.

looks like a blizzard will engulf all of new england this entire weekend, snowing from saturday all the way into sunday night. good thing the fridge is already stocked with supplies. all i have to do is hunker down and enjoy the snow show.
