i was surprised to find my mother knocking on my door in the afternoon. she said she called me a few times but i didn't pick up (my phone was in my bedroom). she and my sister were going shopping and asked if i wanted to come along. we ended up going to that everett strip mall where we went to bed bath & beyond. i got some replacement shower curtains ($15/each, bought a pair). later, while my mother and sister were browsing the baby 'r' us, i went to office max to check out the multifunction laser printers, then went to bath and body works to buy some aromatherapy lotions. i felt a little embarrassed when the woman asked if this was for a special someone and i said it was for me. is it so wrong for a dude to love aromatherapy? i got some eucalyptus & spearmint scented products.
from there we paid a visit to the target. i got some pillows (only $4/each) and a packet of kitchen towels ($5). we went to the assembly square mall next, where i found a suitable replacement rug (30" x 50" 100% olefin fiber) for my foyer from tj maxx. it had no price on it and the guy i asked for a price check couldn't find a comparable rug either. he handed me a $10 rug and told me to tell the cashier to ring that up instead. when i went to go pay, he just happened to be working the register next to mine, so i ended up getting the rug for $10. not a bad deal because i think it was probably $30. ac moore was the last department store we visited before going back home. we stopped off at the union square subway to pick up a few sandwiches before they dropped me off at my place.
the first thing i did was to replace the old foyer rug. that rug has been there since the first day i moved in, and in fact belonged to the previous tenants. the rug is so old that the rubber grips underneath has since deteriorated and turned to dust. i had to vacuum first before wiping the floor clean with a damp cloth. the new rug is the exact same size as the old one. it could actually be a little bigger (longer) but it's hard to find that particular size (30" x 72").
