once i got the idea in my head that i can put off work until tomorrow, it made planning my day a lot easier. i started this morning by sanding the wooden french door in my kitchen/dining room. southern facing, it's taken a lot of beating in the 6+ years i've lived here, and needed to be stained and then sealed. after i was done, i went back to city paint to get a small can of stain (chestnut), a quart of quick-dry oil-based polyurethane, some rags, a bottle of paint thinner, and a brush. since it'd be raining the next 2 days, this door project will be temporarily on hold. time is running out though, because once the weather gets even colder, the stain/sealant will have a harder time drying, and i won't be able to leave the door open.

a quick browse of the rite aid circular revealed a sale on ferrero rocher (2/$5) and brown & haley roca ($5). i went down to the store on somerville avenue and stocked up. a short pleasantly attractive woman wearing a gaudy pair of bedazzled dolce & gabbana sunglasses came into the store and cut me in line to ask the cashier if they carried a particular brand of cigarette. i was so shocked by her audacity that it left me speechless. she was young, but her voice grow deeper when she showed her id. i saw her again in the parking lot, sitting behind the wheel of some SUV. you cut me in line! i wanted to yell at her, but i just casually got on my motorcycle and rode away.

i made myself a reuben sandwich for lunch. in the early evening i cleaned the house a bit, vacuuming the floors and scrubbing the bathroom. julie came over and made some chicken makhani curry (indian butter chicken). i'm normally not a fan of tomato sauce but i could hardly taste it after it'd been combined with all sorts of spices and creams. after julie left, i washed the rest of the dishes before bringing out the trash. the nighttime temperature hovered in the upper 30's. winter can't be far behind.
