it's probably one of the stinkiest food i know how to make, these thick blue cheese burgers that i prepare on my foreman grill. what goes into it is fairly simple: ground beef, blue cheese crumbles, chopped scallions, chopped garlic, hot sauce, worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, and some ground pepper. mix all that up, round your patties, and serve with onion slices. the combination is deadly smelly - blue cheese with scallions with garlic with onions. after you eat it you can't talk with anyone for a few days. might as well serve it with a side of kimchee to truly elevate the funk level.

i also made some sweet potato fries, tossed with olive oil, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, and crush sea salt, baked in the oven for over 45 minutes at around 450 degrees. the fries were sliced with skin intact, which gave it a rough outer texture while the inside was a soft sweet potato custard.

julie came over to watch some america's next top model (sheena is so slutty!) followed by project runway (everyone hates kenley!) and then the ALDS between the red sox and the angels. is it just me, or has the enthusiasm for the red sox this postseason seems to be lacking? hopefully their victory tonight will start some momentum. i'm certainly a little more excited about another world series run now. whatever happens though, please don't let manny ramirez win. but imagine if the dodgers and red sox were to meet in the world series? epic.

earlier, my father brought over a contractor to take a look at my gutter repair situation. he estimated about $500 for some quick fixes now (patch a few holes, replace a rotting windowsill) and then come next spring $6000 to restain the house. fortunately my upstairs neighbor and i split any exterior house repairs, with him paying 60% because he owns more of the building. i wrote my neighbor a note with the details, hopefully he'll get back to me with a response soon so we can get the repairs done before the weather gets too cold.
