another long work day. so long that this morning seemed like it happened two days ago. just trying to remember what i did today, in no particular order. i dropped an egg on the kitchen carpet while making an omelette (cheddar cheese, leftover chicken, chipotle peppers). those protein stains are hard to get out and i don't think i can just wash that carpet. it's already pretty dirty, i may just replace it (it was an ikea purchase from 6 years ago). i went to the garden to water my plants and was stung by mosquitoes. i rearranged jesse's houseplants, putting many of them in the backyard so they can get some real sun while the weather's still warm. i repotted the cactus but got pricked a few times, hurt like a bastard. took a brief motorcycle trip to walgreens to get some snacks (necco wafers and chocolate bars) then tried to go to the porter square post office to buy some stamps but the line was too long so i took a free mail-order form instead. ed's was having a yard sale, including an electronic dart board and some cheap plastic cameras. a handmade pakistani runner caught my eye, but when he unfurled the carpet it was full of dead insect cocoons and mildew. my father dropped by around noontime to deliver some food. maybe i had too much of the great outdoors yesterday because last night i had some serious hayfever, including itchy eyes, ticklely throat, sneezing, and a runny nose. took a claritin this morning (those tablets go down smooth), felt a bit better, and then later throughout the day the symptoms cleared up.

i watched the 3rd night of the DNC. during roll call, hillary made a cameo appearance at the new york delegation and asked for an acclamation nomination instead (i had to look it up online), finally putting an end to the "she said he said" campaign. bill clinton redeemed himself with his speech, just like what hillary did last night. did he get some work done? he looked so young! i cried a little bit during biden's intro and the first few minutes of his speech. then obama made a surprise appearance, like a rockstar. can't wait for his speech tomorrow night (not sure about the grecian set design though).
