a phone call woke me up this morning. anne was calling about losing her blog posting and if i had any ideas how to get it back. i didn't know what to say. from what she told me everything seems to have gotten erased. i didn't have the heart to tell her this even though that's probably what happened. after that i couldn't go back to sleep anymore, but it wasn't that early anyways and was a good time to get out of bed. with my mind on lunch, i went to the garden to pick some basil before returning home and making some omelette and a smoothie.

i went to an open house just a few doors down from where i live. t's a condo unit i've seen before, was one of a few i was considering buying 5 years ago when i was looking for a place. i haven't seen it since so it was nice to revisit, so what kind of work they've done. from what i remembered, the unit was sort of a dump, bathtub style kitchen sink and for some reason the hot water heater was actually sitting in one of the bedrooms. they've really spruced things up, added some new walls and cabinets, put in a new kitchen and bathroom. nevertheless, for a place 50 square feet smaller compared to mine, the owners actually had the guts to ask for $100k more than what i paid for my own condo. especially in this buyer's market, there's no way they're going to get that price. maybe that's something like the suggested retail price, but actual price will be much lower. besides, that unit is cursed anyway, it's perennially changing ownership; since i've been here, i think it's been sold 2-3 times already, so you really have to wonder why the owners never stick around for very long.

my family came over in the evening for dinner. we watched the emmy's red carpet coverage on television as we ate. after they left i watched the red sox game, alternating back and forth between that and the patriots' football game happening simultaneously. it got to the point where i was starting to get confused, wishing the red sox would score another touchdown and congratulating the pats on beating up on the yankees. the patriots did win, but against the chargers, while the red sox lost to new york.
