climbed out of bed at 6AM this morning to go see the monks beg for alms from the townspeople. a line of saffron robed holy men and boys marched down the street while kneeling devotees offered then handfuls of sticky rice from straw containers. there was a slight circus-like atmosphere as insensitive foreigners lurched in front of subdued monks, clicking their cameras, blinding them with the flash. i returned to the guesthouse to watch two japanese travelers playing chess while smoking weed, they had a hard time setting up the board, natch. after a late morning nap, i left the guesthouse again to go explore the town once more. i bumped into andy and his friends and had lunch with them along a riverfront restaurant. later, i climbed phusi mountain (maybe just a hill) to get a spectacular view of luang prabang. i could see my guesthouse and i could see the airport that i'll be leaving from sunday morning. now, off to get a massage then going back to the guesthouse to sleep until dinnertime. oh lazy days!
