this morning i went with bruce and jack and their friend ed and ed's boyfriend joe to the pride parade in boston. the big drama was how ed was late because he was getting joe to hem his shorts so they'd be at perfect knee-length. this being my second year attending the pride parade, there wouldn't be so many surprises, but i still think if you can only go to one parade this year, the pride parade is definitely the most interesting in terms of eye candy. unlike last year, i wouldn't be wearing a tuxedo again, but i had on my "chinese food" t-shirt, hoping to garner some special attention nevertheless. ed led us into the heart of the south end, near the beginning of the parade route. we waited underneath the shade of a tree for the parade to start. the first to arrive were the bikers, the women followed by the men. next came mayor menino and his entourage. the following is an abbreviated sampling of the festivities:

when the parade was over, we walked back to boston common. before we left to go home (none of us had any interests in visiting the activity tents nor listen to the local musicians performing through a jumbotron), i bumped into paula and jonathan, taking a break from their emerson reunion. bruce, jack, and i got off at harvard square, where we paid a visit to crate & barrel first (jack needed dishes, i browsed and bought a bar of soup), before walking back to our neighborhood via mass ave. i watched the baseball game, then later went out to visit marathon sports to see if they had any running shorts my size. when i came back again, i fell asleep on the couch while watching the rest of the game.

i woke up before 9pm, heated up some microwaveable dinner (chicken pasta), and watched pirates of the caribbean on cable. after the movie was over, i spent the rest of the evening (several hours worth) making renata's birthday card with autofocus playing in the background. making cards out of felt is my new passion.
