if you didn't tell me where i was, i would've guessed we were out in the wilderness, and wilderness meant far far away from the city, not within viewing distance of boston. true, if you climbed one of several rocky hill tops you could hear the highway (which sounds like the ocean) and catch a glimpse of the nearby metropolis, but there were times when i could've easily been fooled into thinking that we were elsewhere. on this morning, i drove out to malden to visit andrew, check out the progress of his garden, and to see the fells again (i'd just been there last weekend) where he lives within walking distance from.

the first wildlife i spotted was a clear-winged baskettail dragonfly. if you ever want to see one of these, the fells is a good place to find them since they're pretty common around here. andrew got a first taste of my style of naturing, walk a little bit, stop for a while to take some photos, repeat. the eastern half of the fells features more open fields, which means an abundance of wildflowers.
