it was overcasted this morning and then it started raining in the afternoon. monday and rain, the perfect combination. earlier, walking to work, i saw a mysterious garment on the sidewalk. the streets of chinatown's outskirts can be sort of shady at times. a newspaper vendor outside of the train station made it an effort to hand me a free copy of some job search paper, apparently thinking i must be unemployed based on my disheveled appearance. i gave it a quick read (it was mainly for summer jobs on the cape) and tossed it before i even got to work. alex came to me while i was adding some new weather game features up in the front room, expressing some concern over my coughing without doesn't seem to be getting any better. ironically, today was a day where i coughed the least, maybe i'm getting well, but i'm starting to think my doctor didn't know what he was talking about when he misdiagnosed my condition and gave me the impression that i could just walk it off. during our monday meeting, adam announced that he'd be marrying long time girlfriend michelle (and the mother of their 2 year old daughter) come next week, in a civil ceremony held in western massachusetts. this work place is thick in matrimony. i didn't leave the office at all today, didn't go running when the weather was still clear, and certainly didn't bother going out when it started raining. i ate my last brick of lasagna for lunch. all day long my sister was e-mailing me, asking for my help on her PC, which despite the fact that she re-installed the system to the factory default settings, she still couldn't get onto the internet. i was kind of angry because i was ready to help her a few weeks ago but she couldn't find the time, and now she wants help only because she needs to use the machine to do some work.

all i wanted to do when i got home was to watch the baseball game, my reward for a hard day's work. thinking that the red sox would come out swinging after being humiliated by the texas rangers in a weekend sweep, i was ready for victory. i must enjoy being disappointed, because the red sox ended up losing the game again, the downward spiral continues. my sister called me up a few more times asking me to fix her computer. i told her the earliest i could do it was wednesday, and even then, only if i felt like it. for dinner i heated up a stouffer's french bread pizza (it took twice as long because for the first 30 minutes i forgot to turn on the toaster oven). feeling guilty, i called my father to ask him to come pick me up after work so i could go back to belmont and see if i could fix my sister's machine.

back in belmont, while i was busy debugging the PC, my father was fixing our broken nikon coolpix 950's, the replacement parts for the broken battery compartment doors arrived today. 5 small screws and a bit of prying with a micro flathead screwdriver was all it took to replace the door. now my formerly broken 950 is back in business again! elsewhere, on the PC front, the problem turned out to be nothing wrong with the machine, just that the ethernet cable coming out of the router wasn't properly connected. once we plugged that back into the router, my sister's PC worked fine.
