at one point the weather report said it was 66 degrees. it was the kind of day that renewed people's faith in the coming of spring and the end of winter. on the train this morning i saw a woman who was so tall that the top of her head nearly touched the ceiling of the cabin. elsewhere, a hipster girl with a nikon 2500 was taking stealth photos of parents with a baby stroller sitting opposite her. i wondered if she had a weblog, if those photos would somehow appear online. at the office, i worked on three different projects at the same time. in the afternoon i went running with alex kates. the weather was perfect for a run, warm but not hot, and the banks of the charles river was populated with exercise hungry coeds running and rollerblading, a showcase of hotness. there's only one reason to run during the wintertime, and that's just to get exercise, but when the weather warms up, suddenly there seems to be plenty of reason to get your run on. come back to downtown crossing, i ducked into a burger king to get some lunch. the scene was kind of surreal, since collapsed on the floor inside the restaurant was a homeless man being attended to by a team of paramedics and firefighters. i just went ahead and ordered, as if nothing was happening. the music being fed into the sound system was inxs' "new sensation." i left quickly with my order. towards the end of the work day, brian and katrinka treated us all to champagne and cannolis, as a way of saying "thank you" for putting up with their hectic pre-wedding schedule. after work i came home. cutting through porter exchange i caught alex wong hanging out in the magazine section of the japanese convenience store. he bought a burrito from boca grande and came over my place to eat it. he looked sick, runny nose and sneezing, but he told me it was just allergies. he left soon afterwards, and i cooked up some more chinese dumplings for dinner. i took a bath before going to bed, reading the latest issue of entertainment weekly.
