my cellphone wakes me up at 8am, i snooze it for an hour before waking up for real at 9am, it takes me 30 minutes to get ready (i don't eat breakfast, i check my e-mail, it takes a while to find what i'm going to wear), then i leave the house and get to the office around 10am. that's my weekday morning routine. i'd love to wake up a little bit earlier, eat some breakfast, watch some television, but i sleep so late, i can't afford to squander precious minutes of sleep by waking up before i absolutely have to. when i arrive in boston, my first taste of news comes from the newspaper dispensers, the boston globe, the herald, and for some reason the new york post. the streets of chinatown are dirty, and i spent a great deal of time with my eyes downwards, making sure i don't step on anything nasty. it'd be great if mayor menino can clean up that area of boston. i'm sure one day it will be nice, the whole area is gentrifying, i can already see former office spaces now being converted into posh condominiums.

once again i didn't set foot outside of the office today. for lunch i brought along a can of soup, heated it up and ate it straight from the pot sitting in front of my computer. all day i was debugging. there was a lull when i fixed all the bugs at one point (of course more were eventually discovered), and i actually asked for more work, something uncharacteristic of me, my newbiness still fresh. katrinka finally gave me a set of office keys (i proved my trustiness by not stealing any equipment the first few weeks of employment). my total number of keys that i carry with me went from a single house key to now 4 keys. i probably won't carry the office keys with me all the time, maybe i can buy one of those false key rocks and hide it outside, but somehow i think a plastic stone would look out of place sitting on the front steps of our office building.

there was no package waiting for me when i got back home tonight, but there was a surprise nevertheless: jose miguel finally e-mailed me, confirming that my father and i were all set with our costa rica schedule and he sent me the itinerary. with just 4 days before we leave, we finally figure out what we're going to do down there. now i can focus on packing, which won't be very much, besides my camera equipment and computer and some clothes, there really isn't anything else i want to bring.

julie came over for dinner, she made jambalaya (with chicken sausage), i made some sweet corn. by the time the food was ready, 24 had already started. not sure if julie's getting into the show, but how do i tell her that on tuesday nights i must watch 24? i've already missed a bunch of gilmore girls episode, i'm hoping to catch them when they repeat. 24 and alias are now the only two shows i follow religiously. occasionally i'll add a little enterprise into my tv diet, or law & order: special victims unit, but i don't know when it's on anymore. a lot of serious shows, i'm not much for comedy these days, me and my adult viewing habits.
