went to bed at 5am, woke up at 11am. the fast few days i've actually made myself jet lagged. now i feel sleepy during the day and at night i can't fall asleep. lunch i had half an oven baked chicken my father made. i made myself a fruit elixir - grapefruit juice, frozen fruits, yogurt, sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. the extract sort of made the drink unfruity and mildly bitter (it could also have been the grapfruit juice though), i only added it because i had some on hand and wanted to see what it tasted like (it made everything taste like vanilla). i took a nap right when the evening news came on. when i woke up, i watched the celtics lose to the blazers, and i made myself some pasta with the leftover ground beef i saved up from my botched thai sausages, in what i called "rotini in citric flavored sauce." my new favorite cooking activity is to chop up the ingredients into very fine pieces with base of the knife in a rocking motion. i chopped up a fistful of parsley and threw away most of it just because i wanted to chop something up. a part of food creation is the act of destruction, think about that little bit of irony the next time you cook. the pasta wasn't good, it's something i'll probably never make again.
