waking up to some crunch berry cereal and fresh orange juice (not from concentrate like it is in japan), claudio and i went back to belmont to pick up happy and bring her to government center where she was meeting a friend of hers for lunch. although she invited us, it's hard to gauge people's true intention when it comes to things like that, whether they're just being polite (but don't really want you to come) or genuinely enjoy your company. i figured she'd want some private time with her old friend, so i talked claudio into forgoing lunch plans with happy so instead the two of us could go relive one of our college food experiences. so claudio and i drove to tufts university, our alma mater, and went to nick's pizza, where claudio ordered the pepperoni calzone. crunch berry still fresh in my stomach, i went with a light italian dressing salad. claudio had been dreaming about nick's pepperoni calzone for a while. apparently it's impossible to find calzones in tokyo. i think i saw him crying while he was eating.

after lunch, we went to the fresh pond cinema to catch xxx. i had a large popcorn and a small pepsi. the movie theatre was nice and air conditioned, but we were freezing after the show, which then suddenly changed when we walked into a wall of heat leaving the theatre. claudio called happy, and they decided to meet at the prudential mall. i dropped him off at porter square while i went back to my house, taking the opportunity to lie down and rest.

my father came by briefly to do some patch work and to swab some more stains on the door. soon after he left, claudio came back from boston. very shortly afterwards, manny and daisy showed up at my place. the four of us drove to wing works in the rain to get our order and came back to the house for a night of nostalgic wings action. because i have no real furnitures yet, we sat around the coffee table eating, sitting on mattresses. i also gave daisy the tour of the place. at nights i give the night tour which is impressive because i can demonstrate the mood matching effects of the recessed lights. during the day the day tour showcases the natural sunlight that wafts into the house, even the northern facing living room which remains bright because of so many windows (5).

claudio fell asleep in the living room while daisy, manny and i were talking in the kitchen, the both of them pitching home decoration ideas to me. when it became time for daisy and manny to leave, i tried to wake claudio up by clapping loudly but he would have none of that, sleeping like the dead. so they left quietly, manny promising to call tomorrow before claudio goes back to nyc to catch his flight back to japan.
