paint layers: originally, 100 years ago, the windows had been painted a moss green, then a tan color, followed by brown, then pink, then white, the most recent color.
this morning i got a call from paula cancelling our dim sum appointment. i wasn't disappointed, because it meant i could get a few more hours of sunday sleep. when i finally got up at noon, i spent a good part of the day at the house stripping paint. manual stripping by a scraper and a heat gun is just too much work. we were going to try a chemical stripper but were missing some cleanup equipment so decided to hold off until tomorrow. both my thumbs hurt afterwards from pulling off hot strips of paint from the window frames. after a few hours of work, i only finished half a window. later i made another visit to the home depot expo in burlington, armed with a set of new bathroom measurements. the store was crowded with money people, the kind who have the necessary funds to afford the luxury of interior decorating (so the question that begs to be asked is what the hell was i doing there!). although the store closes at 6pm on sundays, there were a lot of people still shopping at closing time, oblivious to the warnings over the pa system.
