before i went to bed i went outside to check and see if it snowed yet. it caught me by surprise but the landscape was already covered in a layer of white with more falling. snow is a sure sign that winter is here. isn't this also one of the perks of living here in new england, the bounty of seasons? no matter how many times i've seen it, it's always a thrill to see freshly fallen snow covering the ground. just as thrilling it is to walk in new snow!

with our first winter snowstorm about to hit us later tonight, i thought it'd be a good time to restock the birdfeeders with sunflower seeds. the feeders have been empty since sometime during the spring. i made the unfortunate mistake of filling the feeders and then having them completely pillaged by bad birds like sparrows, starlings and pigeons. yes, i even saw big fat pigeons sitting on the 2" tray snacking on seeds i had reserved for more pleasant birds. so the feeders have been left idle ever since then, until today. when i put up the restocked feeders, i could hear chickadees singing noisely up in the trees. hours later when i looked outside i saw chickadees visiting the feeders, as well as a junco and a pair of sparrows. i could do without the sparrows. i hope they don't come back. i rather have squirrels than sparrows.

how's my cold? i woke up with less coughing but more noseblowing. i always look forward to going to bed all drugged up on cold medication because i tend to have vivid dreams. last night i dreampt about coding. i've been drinking a large cup of warm water about every hour, so i am very properly hydrated. i didn't take my guaifenesin with codeine because i had to stay lucid for my code work. later tonight though, when i go to bed, i might take some, maybe it'll help alleviate my stuffy nose.
